PSAT 8/9 (for 9th grade)
Why AHS Offers the PSAT 8/9 (and why your child should take it)
Welcome to the PSAT 8/9!
At Alpharetta High School, we believe in creating as many opportunities as possible for our students to own their future. That’s why we offer the PSAT 8/9 to our students. The PSAT 8/9 will be given on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Alpharetta High School! The test will be given during the school day and is required for students in grade 9. Below are some guidelines on how to approach the PSAT 8/9 for the 2024 school year.
Why take the PSAT 8/9?
This year, the PSAT 8/9 is required for all students in grade 9 as it serves as the FCS Universal Screener. Whether your child is thinking about attending a two- or four-year college, is going straight into the workforce, or isn’t sure what they want to do after high school, the PSAT 8/9 can help make their path clearer. With the PSAT 8/9, You'll know your strengths and what skills you'll need to practice so you can continue to improve. Then you can track your progress when you take the PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, and/or SAT.
New this year:
This fall, PSAT 8/9 will be given in a new digital format. Your child will take the PSAT 8/9 on Thursday, October 9, 2024. Again, all 9-11th grade students are required to take these tests (either 8/9 or PSAT/NMSQT).
Students will use their FCS-issued devices and utilize the Bluebook app on their desktop. If students choose to use their own personal device, they must ensure that the Bluebook app is downloaded by September 23, 2024. Scores will be released in mid-November.
STUDENT ACTION ITEMS:
Please ask your child to complete the tasks listed below prior to test day:
